Maxakuli Cup

The Maxakuli Cup is the Las Vegas Backgammon Club's year end Tournament of Champions. It was started in 2007, in honor of the Michael "Max" Maxakuli, who passed away in 2006. Max was the leader of the Las Vegas Backgammon Club for many years. Cy Yehros won the first Maxakuli Cup in 2007 by defeating Steve Diano in the finals. In 2008, Dennis McFarlin defeated Cy Yehros in the finals. These tournaments were featured eight players with eleven point matches.

In 2009, the top 12 players in the club standings will qualify for the Maxakuli Cup. The top 4 players will receive first round byes. The remaining 8 players will be randomly seeded into the eight first round spots.

The 2009 Maxakuli Cup will be played on Wednesday, December 23rd. First round matches begin at 7 p.m., and all matches will be 9 points.

In the bracket below, Players A through H will be the 5-12 seeds, randomly placed.
